I received a renewal notice for a personal license. I can renew an EE3 personal license for around $80. However on the website I can purchase an EE4 personal license for $70. What’s that about?

Hi,

EE4 is currently discounted due to it still being behind EE3 in terms of some features and addons (we are adding new addons and features all the time though!).

We are also hoping more people will hop on the EE4 bandwagon due to the very competitive pricing.

Eventually it is likely EE4’s prices will be increased, as more and more features/addons are added.

Also note that EE3 personal licence comes with some addons, EE4 personal licence does NOT – all addons are purchased separately at that licence level.

There’s a list comparing EE3 to EE¤ here: https://eventespresso.com/differences-ee4-ee3/

This might be slightly out of date as we are adding more features quicker than we can update this! For example, EE4 now has Promotional codes available for it, although it is still in Beta. Multiple Event Registration for EE4 is also coming soon, so long as testing goes well.

I hope that covers everything, but if you have any other questions please just ask.

Does that mean that if I want an EE4 personal license I should just let the EE3 license lapse (instead of renew it) and purchase the EE4 license.

Hi,

You can do it that way, or renew EE3 as it currently gives you access to a the core EE4 addon as well (I forgot to mention that, sorry).

We are giving EE3 licence holders access to the core EE4 addon, hoping that people will begin to swap over to EE4.

As such you can try EE4 on a test site right now, or try it on our test drive site (http://demoee.org) to see if EE4 can meet your business needs.

Renewing EE3 will give you the advantage of reverting to EE3 should you need to (please back up your database before transferring to EE4! A swap back to EE3 can only be done by installing a backed up database).

I’ll probably just get the EE4 from the get go. Nothing to back up as truth is I paid for 2 years of Event espresso and never got around to setting it up. Dumb of me, I know. But I will now as I can’t function any longer without some kind of event registration thing. (Maybe you could give me a 2 years credit toward the EE$ version? 🙂 Be nice, though I understand you don’t have to. It was my fault after all that I never used it). Looking forward to setting it up.

Hi Irene,

Unfortunately we can’t credit non-use 🙁

If you have any questions or need further info about setting EE4 up, feel free to post in the forums.

The EE4 documentation can be found here too: https://eventespresso.com/support/documentation/versioned-docs/?doc_ver=ee4
