Hi

I want to use recurring events module to setup an event as follows:
– Every 1st Monday each month
– Registration is not required (No registration form)
– Only upcoming events should pop up in the Events widget
– All events should be in the events calendar

Please advice how to setup this event. I played hours with the settings and it newer works as described above. Since I have to schedule a lot of this events for different regions it is not feasible for me to do this manually and I would expect that recurring events module is for exactly those cases.

Thanks
Patrick

Hi Patrick,

– Every 1st Monday each month

Well this can be done, but there is a known issue that the last date does not get created. We have a ticket created to look into it.

– Registration is not required (No registration form)

In the event/s set the Display registration form? option to No.

– Only upcoming events should pop up in the Events widget

So long as the widget has Show Expired Events as No, then only new events will show. You may need to increase the Limit amount if they are not all showing as it defaults to 5.

– All events should be in the events calendar

Use [ESPRESSO_CALENDAR show_expired=”true”] to display all events on the calendar including past ones.

Thanks Dean for the promt response.
I did this but I am struggling with all the dates fields. Although registration for the events is not required it seems critical to set correct registration dates for the widget/calendar. Could you please give further advice about the registration dates fields. I would appreciate by a concrete example:

“Begin of registration” = ??? (I assume today)
“End of registration” = ??? (I assume 02/12/2013)

“Start date for 1st Event” = 02/12/2013 (Monday)
“End date for 1st Event” = 02/12/2013 (Monday)

“Registration starts at…” = ??? (I would assume today)
“Registration ends at…” = ??? (I would assume 02/12/2013)

“Are all events between the registration dates indicated above?” = ??? (I would assume “NO, by formula”)

Start date of first event = ??? (I would assume 02/12/2013)
End date of first event = ??? (I would assume 02/12/2013)
Last date of event = ??? (I would assume e.g. 01/12/2014)

Repeat by = weekday

It seems that there is another issue in my case with the category selection. I created a category “calendar” that only events in this category are shown in the calendar ([ESPRESSO_CALENDAR event_category_id=”calender”]). Unfortunately in older events I can select the category. In newly created events the selection boxes for the category don’t show up. It always states “No category” under the block “Eventcategory”. Why?

Thanks
Patrick

Solved.
The problem was that I’ve deleted the admin who originally created the category. A category with no creator (deleted) does not show up as selectable option when you create a new event. It is also not possible to select a category in an older event that has been created before the category itself.

Another bug I found is that if you picked “Weekdays” as recurring option the next time you open the event the setting shows “Monthly” – which causes problems when you do not pay attention to it and switch it back before saving.
