This is a continuation of a previous ticket that was closed after a month went by, but it is still yet unresolved. I am having trouble getting credit card payments to go through to Quickbooks. I have followed all the recommendations provided on the help page that Lorezo sent me the previous ticket:

Hi,
Intuit uses separate accounts for live mode and test mode.
https://developer.intuit.com/docs/030_qbms/0030_get_set_up/3._create_a_test_merchant_account

Lorenzo

I have complete those steps three times hoping that I made a mistake, but they all result in the same error. I am using this with the development of the payment (not testing…..gave up on creating a separate test account, which was also a pain). I have registered the app, created a connection ticket, logged out of the Intuit system, and entered the connection ticket in Event Espresso. I keep getting the following error:

2040: Authorization Error

There was an error in the transaction process, try again. Event logged.

When I contacted Intuit, they have no record of a credit card processing request being received and tell me that the error is occurring within Event Espresso. Is the “2040” error something that Intuit sends back to our server? Or is that a general Event Espresso error? My guess is that it is created by Intuit. I have spent WAY too much time trying to get this to work. I would prefer to use some other payment method, but the client wants to continue with Intuit since that is what they use for in-store payments.

Please help!! Intuit has made this process anything but simple. I set up a different site to use Stripe and was done in about 30 minutes.

Hi,

The error message is partly from us and partly from Intuit.

Intuit says:
2040: Internal error – an error occurred that prevented authentication (i.e. a database exception).

As such have you double checked that the connection ticket has been entered into the settings with no spaces at the front or end?

We have seen this in the past and following these instructions seemed to help (the main bit was recreating the connection ticket)

How to Configure QuickBooks Merchant Services Payment Gateway

First signup for a Merchant Services Account here
After creating the account, click here to link Event Espresso to your QuickBooks Merchant Services account
After you click on the previous link, enter your QuickBooks Merchant Services email and password.
You will then be given a ‘Connection Ticket’, which you must copy and paste into the Field ‘Connection Ticket’ in Event Espresso’s QuickBooks Merchant Services payment settings field.
(Note: if you change whether you’re using the PTC/Development server, you will need to re-acquire your connection ticket.)
All done! Now just test that payments are working, and you’re done!
