Hi there, I asked a question a while back but I can’t seem to reply to your response so thought it would be best to start a new topic. Just to recap; we are an events company based in the UK and looking for a new method to sell our tickets online. Looking over your website, Event Espresso looks like a great platform that could work for us, I just had a couple of questions; Firstly, to promote our events, we use staff hired as promo reps to hand out flyers with information about the event. Each flyer has a unique ‘rep ID’ which the customer enters when buying a ticket. When using ‘Fatsoma’, this ID gives the customer discount on their ticket (like a coupon code) but it is also linked with the rep’s personal account which, when accessed, shows a summary of how many tickets the rep has sold for the event. At the end of the event, the rep is payed commission depending on the number of tickets they sold for the event. You mentioned that this wouldn’t be possible with Event Espresso but I was wondering if there is a way we can still use coupon codes to figure out how many tickets a rep has sold. ..for example, if 15 customers use a particular coupon code to apply discount to their tickets, is there a way, in EE, that we can see how many tickets have used that particular coupon code? We are also wondering if there is an extra surcharge that Event Espresso apply to each ticket sold or do we literally only pay you for the licence? Apologies for long winded email, hope all makes sense! Regards, James |

Also, is there a reason that EE4 is cheaper than EE3? Thanks |

Hi James, Forum threads are automatically closed after a set period of time.
I’m going to answer this first as it filters through the other answers. EE4 is currently in open beta which is why it is much cheaper, the price will rise once it goes into “production”. Being in open beta means that there are features that are not available. Specifically most of the addons and the discount/promotional code system. We are working on adding more features and addons continually. That being said EE4 is functional and you can happily take standard events, but right now EE4 would not be suitable for you as you need the discounting system (promotional codes).
In EE3, the attendee list can be exported to an excel file and the discount code used is shown in one of the columns.
Just a single code per registration/cart currently.
Absolutely no additional fees! You purchase the product & support licence. The licence is valid for one year and covers support and updates during that time. At the end of the licence you can renew to continue getting support and updates. If you don’t renew, the plugin will continue to function (unless a WordPress update occurs to break it: rare but it has happened), but you will no longer get access to the latest features, bug fixes or support. |

Thanks very much for the answers, huge help! ..when do you reckon coupon codes will be working with EE4? If I bought EE3 now, will it cost to upgrade to EE4 when it leaves the beta stage? Is there a limit to the number of coupon codes you can use per event? Do you know if Event Espresso will work with the X-Theme on word press? Thanks again, James |

Hi,
I’m sorry, I can’t give timescales.
Purchasing EE3, will give you access to EE4 and any addons for EE4 that match your EE3 licence (e.g. if your EE3 licence has the calendar, you can access the EE4 calendar).
Nope, no limit. We do recommend keeping it to a reasonable limit because thousands per event could cause severe server lag unless you have a really good server.
Not sure, we haven’t tested with that theme. However if the theme is coded to WordPress standards then it should be fine. |
