Hi: I volunteer helping a local nonprofit with the online portion of their mission, which involves distributing toys to parents of needy children during the holiday season. Referring agencies complete online forms for each of the parents who’d like to obtain toys for their kids. So, the data for each parent is available electronically. We use that data to send each approved parent a letter, which serves as admittance for the parent to the toy giveaway event. And, we stagger the parents across specific pre-designated time slots throughout the giveaway day. Unfortunately, we’ve had some mild fraud issues with that system. We need a ticketing system, which will print unique tickets that can be validated at the door. Heard about y’all on WP Late Night & thought I’d check you out first. With that background, the questions: Trying to imagine how the EE plugin and ticketing system might work… (1) Since the parents aren’t coming directly to the nonprofit site & also aren’t buying tickets either, will it be possible for us to simply use a CSV to populate the EE ticket system and thereby print unique tickets for each eligible parent (or could we populate a mailchimp list which in turn populates the EE ticket system)? (2) If we can do the preceding, could we potentially use the “multiple event registration” functionality in EE to treat each time slot as a different event, put different groups of parents into those separate “events” & then print their unique tickets that would show the allotted time slot? (3) Are there any required fields to create tickets within the EE plugin (lots of our parents don’t have email addresses) (4) I assume EE permits the use of your ticketing validation app for one org on multiple phones to check ticket holders – and, more specifically, that the system would deny a ticket holder who attempted to enter on one phone, if they’d been previously validated on the app on a different phone? Thanks in advance for helping me evaluate your product. |
I think Event Espresso will work well for this situation.

Thanks very much for the answers, Seth. They were very helpful, and we really appreciate the prompt response. I presented them back to the nonprofit for their evaluation. |
Please let us know if we can help with pricing: |

I volunteer with a handful number of local nonprofits regarding their online initiatives. The local nonprofit, who most needs help with a ticketing & validation system, is called Adopt an Angel. It was put together and is run by local police & EMT agencies. Although it’s a “nonprofit” that helps the community, it’s not a 501(c)(3). I notice on the application that there’s a field for 501(c)(3) number – is the fact that Adopt an Angel doesn’t have one going to be a show stopper on EE’s nonprofit pricing program? Again, thanks for the ongoing help, Seth.

Not in this situation. Please fill in as much information as possible. |

That’s terrific! I’ll touch base with the local police officers who are on the organizational committee with me and obtain their agreement to move forward. Some of them have odd shifts – may take me a few days to hear back from each of them, so that I can move forward with completing the application. Thanks once again – have a good weekend. |
