I see the short code for ordering events by start date and ID, but I have two events on the same day, one in the AM and one in the PM and they are displaying backwards. How can I order events so that the chronologically first event appears first on the page. The order_by function doesn’t seem to consider time as well as date.
They should automatically order themselves as per the time. I looked at the site we have for you on file and the two events, AM and PM are in the correct order in both the list and the calendar.
Hi Dean,
My registrations open tonight and I really needed these in the right order so I deleted the events and recreated them so that sorting by ID would put them in the right order. When I created them the first time, I did so by duplicating a previous event and that seemed to do screwy things with the event ID. The PM event had a lower ID than the Am event, so it was listing PM first. Sorting by date didn’t change that, thus my posting here.
OK, I see what you mean now, I didnt realise I had managed to put them in time and event ID order!
OK, this has actually been fixed and is in the pipeline for release 3.1.36. As you need it straight away, I sent you a copy of the files that need to be replaced (one template file – event_list.php and one core file – time_date.php).
I got your email. Thanks very much Dean. Your support is top notch, as usual.
It would be great to see a way within the Event Manager to specify the order of events. Perhaps a manually configurable “SORT_ID” so that the order can be changed on the fly to any desired order. Just a thought!
I’ll certainly add that idea to our feature request list
