open_basedir restriction in effect error in System Status

I am getting the following error when checking the System Status in EE:

Warning: is_dir(): open_basedir restriction in effect. File(/var/lib/php/session) is not within the allowed path(s): (/var/www/vhosts/xxxxxxxx/xxxxxxx.com/:/tmp/) in /var/www/vhosts/xxxxxxxx/xxxxxxx.com/wp-content/plugins/event-espresso/includes/espresso-admin-status.php on line 295 /var/lib/php/session does not exist – contact your host to resolve the problem.

How can I resolve this problem?

Hi,

You need to contact your host and ask them to relax the open_basedir function as it is affecting opening files. I would show them the error as it should be quite clear to them what needs to be done.
