For our particular installation we want to offer only some of the classes for online registration and gradually add more for online registration until we are up to speed with the system.
Is there a way to create an event that is not available for online registration and gives a message to that effect, not just “registration is close” message?
Based on your licence I am assuming you are using EE3.
In the event editor you can set the option “Display registration form?” to NO.
This will disable the registration form basically stopping people from registering. You can add a note directly in the event description advising them how to sign up to the event.
Alternatively, you could use the “Alternative Registration Page (optional)” option which accepts a URL. This can be used to send people to a different page that has appropriate information on it. Please note with this option, depending on how the user selects the event they may be sent to the other page without viewing any of the event details first.
Thanks you very much this was a distinctly appropriate answer and very helpful.
