I’ve posted a couple of different support threads on this topic however nothing has come to light as a viable solution. I’m hoping with re-clarification someone (eg. Josh) can shed light?
We’re utilizing EE3 for our website (plans in the next year to evolve to EE4). Based on regulations and CRA (Canadian Revenue Agency), we must be able to collect tax on the events we’re charging registration fees for IF the customer is located in Canada provinces. Each province has a different tax %.
EE3 has no native tax setup support. I’ve tried to setup tax rates in Paypal however that doesn’t work either.
I would assume it could be customized by our developer with some guidance from EE3 forum or administrators of what hooks to use, etc.
Talking the customization out loud … it would make sense if we could have user select COUNTRY via dropdown, then province or state via drop-down (registration form). Then if COUNTRY = Canada and Province = (pick one) – then we could set via code the tax % that associate with the province so final total is accurate.
Another concern is that EE3 registration form has mandatory system fields for COUNTRY & STATE which are mandatory (can’t change them to drop-down, etc). So I’m really stuck as to what to do.
This has become a legal concern now. Can someone share any insights as to best approach for integrating ability to generate and calculate Canadian taxes into registration fees?
Anyone have any insights to assist? Or is replies for EE3 support forum topics limited now as focus is on EE4?
@Tony?
