I have searched quite a bit on the forums, it’s about listing past events. I need to do this as the client wants to add links to additional content when it’s over. I saw that one way of doing it is to simply create a category and then update the event when it’s over. Seems simple. I also saw that creating a template is one way but DMS doesn’t work in this way but I could add a hook. Does anyone have the correct code I could use? Is this feature coming in v4? Thanks |

Hi, Why not use a shortcode? If you are setting a category to the expired events, you could use: [EVENT_LIST category_identifier=your_category_identifier] Or if you dont mind the old and new mixed in your could use [EVENT_LIST show_expired=true] which will display all the currently active as well as the expired events. https://eventespresso.com/wiki/shortcodes-template-variables/#event-list |

I created a category ‘past events’ as the new site has to show all the old stuff from their existing site. I created a ‘new’ event with the past date etc and added this category. But on the page where I have added: [EVENT_LIST category_identifier=past-events-1384424640] it says ‘no events’. If I use the [EVENT_LIST show_expired=true] it works fine. BTW do expired/closed events also show up in the Events Overview tab? I have to use the category filter ‘past events’ to get them to show up. |

Hi Nicholas, I must have had a brain freeze, the category wont work unless expired is set to true as well. If you just need the expired events, without any of the active events showing, then I’m afraid you may have to make something custom for it. “I have to use the category filter ‘past events’ to get them to show up.” This is the correct procedure, none active events are now hidden from general view in the admin unless filtered into view. |

Ok, thanks. I’ve taken a different route and the client is now writing up past events as a post under a ‘past events’ category – this also means you don’t have to worry about the registration closed message and it makes more sense for them in this case. I have used Tribe events on some sites (that don’t need this level of sophistication) and that plugin has a straightforward ‘show past events’ function. But let’s look to the future… |

OK, no problem, ill add this as a feature request for possible future inclusion. |
