Hi,

I’m a volunteer web developer for my daughter’s PTA website. I am currently using EE on another work site and decided to install it on my daughter’s site as well (purchased two licenses).

I only have one test event posted online now. We are not live in production yet. The only method of payment that will be available is PayPal. I am currently using a PayPal Sandbox account although I don’t think that’s relevant.

When I do a test transaction, I will register online, then when I get to the PayPal page, I hit cancel and it takes me back to the WP EE cancellation page.

The problem is even when the transaction is cancelled and even shows up as canceled in EE, the seat is still depleted by one. Unfortunately, we have a lot of parents who don’t complete the PayPal transaction on the first try so I’m trying to figure out why attendees with incomplete PayPal transactions still take a seat away from the total.

I have my event set to Default Payment Status for Event: Incomplete.

In my mind, if someone does not complete the transaction, they still shouldn’t get to place a hold on that seat.

Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you!

Feel free to do test transactions on the site as well.

Hi,

For clarity and other readers, Pending registrations will always deduct from the capacity, Incomplete wont.

However, what is possibly happening is that there is an option in the EE General Settings called “Ticket Reservation Time” which will cause a reduced capacity even if the attendee is marked as incomplete, at least for a set period of time.

Once the time expires and if the payment has still not been completed, the ticket is released back into the pool. The option is designed to help prevent over booking and to give users who may be slower at registering time to complete the process.

As such I would check that setting, if need be reduce it to say 1 minute and see if it affects the issue.

Thanks for being awesome and for the super fast response! Your answer made perfect sense. I changed that down to 1 minute, waited, and sure enough, the seat came back.

Thanks again for your great customer tech support!
