I’m sure I’ve done this before with an earlier version but for the life of me I can’t see how to edit questions. I’m using the latest version of EE (3.1.30.7P). Here’s what I am trying to do. I have two question groups – the standard Personal one that is locked and a supplementary one that I call Boat Details. What I want to do is alter the labels of some of the questions in Boat Details. Simple in principle – but I can’t see how to it. I’ve spent well over an hour in Question Groups, clicked on the edit button of my target group and I get a list of all the questions I want to change but no way to change them and, even more frustratingly, no way to add a new question (which would work because I could then re-create the one I want to amend and then use that and ignore the origina) I do note a mysterious message at the top of my Question Group page: > Attention: This is a “System Group”, some settings may be disabled< No doubt that is a clue but it begs the question 'Why is a list of secondary questions impossible to amend or append to'? Daft I call it. I hope you aren't going to tell me that the only way I can change the questions if by creating a new group and recreating all of the questions? If so, it might be easier/quicker to edit the database,
Regards Will Chapman

Hi Will, Do you not see a Questions menu item, directly above the Question Groups menu item? If you are not seeing this menu item, then you may have the Roles & Permissions addon installed and/or misconfigured. Can you please check on that?

Yes there is a Questions menu item but it only gives access to the Personal Information group in which all questions are Locked. I can add a question to that group (but not edit them) but that is not what I am interested in.

What I want to do is to change the wording slightly of questions in another Question Group. So if I select Question Groups and either click on the desired group name or on the edit option that shows up if I hover over the group name, I get a list of questions with check boxes against them but no way to edit them.

Hi Will,

All individual questions are in the Questions menu page.

The Questions Group page allows you to well, group them, to enable you to add them to the events.

As such all individual questions must be edited via the Questions menu page.

As Seth mentioned, do you have the Roles and Permissions add on active? Are you logged in as an administrator?

Hello Dean

Thanks for the reply.

First, no I do not have the Roles & Permissions addon active (in fact, I haven’t heard of it before Seth mentioned and assumed it was a WP plugin).

Yes, I am logged in as an administrators. I’ve added Seth as one in the past so I’ll revitalise that so that you can get in and have a look if you want to. The website is http://alrewascanalfestival.org.

Meanwhile, I understand the difference between questions and question groups. The problem is that if I check the group I am interested in (Boat Details) and select Manage Questions I get the questions from the locked Personal Questions.

In Question Groups if I hover over the target group (Boats Details) and click edit, I get the correct list of questions but no way to edit them.

Regard

Will

Hi,

We dont hold onto login details for very long.

Is it possible to get your login details in order to look into this?

If so, please send them via https://eventespresso.com/send-login-details/

NOTE: login details need to be Admin level.

Hi Will,

I logged in, headed over to the Questions section and the questions were all there and editable, though I did need to increase the Show 10 entries to higher (or use the navigation in the bottom right) in order to see the custom question.

Editing an event and clicking on the Details of Boat link in the questions, correctly took me to the Question Group section.

I’m not seeing anything wrong here.

Gosh – as simple as that! I must confess I didn’t even notice the Show 10. What a dummy!

Have you got any ideas how to improve the layout of the radio-buttons on the bottom of Boat Booking form? I managed to tweak the css to get the upper part of the form lined up using Firebug but I haven’t been able to line up the radio-buttons properly.

Thanks so much for your help.

Cheers

Will

No problem, and sometimes its easy to miss the wood for the trees! I do it all the time.

Well, I can’t style it for you but you could add this to your themes style.css and it will neaten it up a bit

.options-list-radio.event_form_field li input {
float: left;
}
.single-radio li {
clear: both;
}
.event_questions label, .espresso_add_attendee label {
text-align: left;
font-weight: bold;
}
.event_form_field {
clear: both;
}

not perfect but will give you a starting point. Other than that you could look to get a developer in to style it for you.

Thanks Dean – that did the job well enough for me!

Certainly good enough to go live.
