Hi!
Is there any way to set up an event and then let patrons choose the price of the ticket for themselves? So, for example, person 1 could choose to pay $40 and person 2 choose to pay $10 and person 3 choose to pay $50 … and so on.

It isn’t something that is built-in, but we do have a partial payment modification (for paypal and authnet right now) that could be further modified to suit your situation.

Thanks for the reply. Is this something we can do ourselves? Or are we looking at getting a custom developer to do it? Is there anywhere I can find out more information?

One possibility is to produce a variety of ticket types, say $5, $10, $15, 420 etc etc.
It’s won’t give the true freedom of allowing them to enter a figure but it can allow a large choice.

Partial Payment documentation is here https://eventespresso.com/wiki/setting-partial-payments-ee/ but it is more involved so would require someone with some website coding knowledge.
