Dear Event Espresso,
We are organizing an international conference in Latvia in June, 2014.
We are trying to integrate the First Data payment system in the Event-Espresso plugin with First Data in Latvia. Several programmers have now looked at this including a Latvian programming company that is very familiar with First Data in Latvia. They have informed us that there is no way to do this as it is currently configured and that a special program will need to be written in order to complete the configuration for the successful completion of the registration payment system through Event Espresso.

Needless to say with the conference coming up very soon we are concerned about the delays to registration, such as the Lat to Euro issue I wrote about earlier.

I have two questions:
1) Can we integrate the First Data/Latvia configuration with First
Data/Event-Espresso?

2) If a program needs to be written or updated, in order to be able to use Event Espresso with First Data/ Latvia, how long will this take and who is responsible for the cost of this?

Thank you and best regards,

Tamsie Ringler

Hello,

Can you provide me with further information regarding this so I can refer to a developer.

We are not aware that our gateway cannot be used in Latvia, indeed I can find no reference to the API being different in different countries so any additional data that you can provide would be useful:

exact issue
error messages
information from the programmers as to why our code wont work

Thanks – We will contact the programmers we have been working with in Latvia to see what information they can provide.

Best, Tamsie

Major differences between the existing First Data payment system (in
Event-Espresso) and First Data Latvia (FDL):
1) FDL solution doesn’t need SSL on-site and redirects clients to FDL
servers with own web form and own SSL certificate.
2) Authenticity during the connection between Merchant and FDL server is
maintained with the keystore which is protected with passphrase.
3) Obviously the First Data addresses are different.
4) In FDL solution there are two URLs. First – for general communication,
second – for client form. As opposed to the single one in the existing FD
gateway.

P.S. config.php is configured correctly, except you need to make changes to
certificate path.

Thanks, I’ll forward this to a developer for their thoughts.

Hi Dean,
Thanks! I have a PHP template along with test certificates and documentation that I can send as well. Is there an email address I can send this information to?
Best regards,

Tamsie

It sounds like it might be First Data’s E4 gateway, which is off-site like you describe. Can you post links to the Documentation or send copies to support at eventespresso dot com? If it is a brand new implementation, it would fall under our new gateway development policy, but we can take a look to see if it is something easy to implement using an existing gateway. The other option is to have a third party do the development, for which we do have some documentation: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/custom-gateway-integration/

Hi,

Sidney has advised that the whole implementation of the Latvian FirstData gateway is drastically different from the standard FirstData and FirstData E4 gateways.

So much so, that this would be a new gateway in it’s own rights, requiring coding from the ground up.

Why the Latvian version is so different is unknown, one would assume FirstData gateways would be the same world over as their documentation does not advise us of any differences.

If a gateway is required for integration with the Latvian system, it will require sponsored development https://eventespresso.com/rich-features/multiple-payment-options/custom-payment-gateway-development/
