Hi there,

My client has been creating events and venues on a development server, and now I wish to export this and all other WordPress data and import to the new site’s database.

Is thee anything I need to keep in mind during this process? Any special way to handle export/import?

I see there is an opportunity to export events, but my client has over 80 events. Will they all export at once even though they are not displayed in the same page? Also, does the Import work ok?

Many thanks,

Martin

Hi Michael,

The events will all export, but if you are doing a database transfer you may as well transfer the full database including all of Event Espresso’s data. The only thing to be aware of is to make sure all URLS are swapped over correctly. There are plugins that can help with this such as WP Migrate DB (https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-migrate-db/).

Also, by transferring the database rather than exporting/importing events, all settings will be transferred as well.

Thanks Dean,

Actually, rather than purchase wp-migrate-db, I just exported the DB as an .sql file, and imported into a new, cleared, database. Then used to globally replace the URLs.

And everything worked fine.

… Used the WP Plugin ‘Better Search Replace.
