[ESPRESSO_EVENTS] for EE4 bug or misconfiguration?

My WP events listing page displays several events that have an “Available Tickets Sell Until” date of over two months ago. Doesn’t the [ESPRESSO_EVENTS] shortcode exclude events that are beyond their “sell until” date? And if not, how do I configure it to exclude them?
