There are two default behaviors with the agendaDay view that I’m not sure how to change:

1) Changing the default day to a day other than the first of the month.
2) Changing the width of individual events within the calendar so they don’t overlap.

Example so far:
http://www.buckeyegamefest.com/events-calendar/

The calendar defaults to Sept. 1. I would like it to default to Sept. 8.

Also, if you go to Sept. 11, you can see that the events bleed into each other horizontally making them unreadable. Is there any easy way to prevent that from happening (other than using exceedingly short event titles)?

Hi Scot,

1) Are you using the shortcode [ESPRESSO_CALENDAR cal_view=”month”] ?

If so, then the calendar will always revert to the 1st of that month in day view.

If not, and you have not modified the calendar in any way, then I would suggest doing some troubleshooting:

A) Disable the plugin that forces jQuery 2.1.4 to be used, see if the issue resolves itself while using the default jQuery (1.11.1)
B) Try a different theme (the Theme Test Drive plugin is useful here)
C) Disable all plugins except EE and EE calendar, to see if the issue is another plugin.

2) I’m not sure why that is occurring, it doesn’t happen on test sites, even with jQuery 2.1.4. It could be a clash with a plugin or theme so I would try steps B and C above.

I am using the following shortcode:

[ESPRESSO_CALENDAR cal_view=”agendaDay” month=”09″]

I would have assumed there is also a day option, but it does not appear in the documentation.

Problem with events overlapping persists with only EE4, EE4 Calendar, and jQuery plugins activated. Disabling the jQuery 2.1.4 plugin causes the calendar to disappear from the page entirely.

I tried about five different themes and the problem with event overlapping persisted on all of them (and in some cases was even worse as it constrained the calendar into a small screen area).

Hi,

“I would have assumed there is also a day option, but it does not appear in the documentation.”

The available options are:

month
basicWeek
basicDay
agendaWeek
agendaDay

I’ve finally managed to recreate the issue. I’ll raise a developer ticket to look into this.

Perhaps I did not adequately explain what my frustration was.

I can use the shortcode

[ESPRESSO_CALENDAR cal_view=”agendaDay”]

To get the agenda day calendar.

I can then use
[ESPRESSO_CALENDAR cal_view=”agendaDay” month=”09″]
to cause the calendar to default to September.

Logically, I would think that I could then use
[ESPRESSO_CALENDAR cal_view=”agendaDay” month=”09″ day=”10″]
to cause the calendar to default to September 10, however the day argument has no effect and the calendar simply defaults to September 1.

Without this option we will have to instruct all our site visitors to manually advance the calendar to Sept. 10 to see any events.

Hi,

My apologies, I thought I had written a line in response and obviously hadn’t.

“I would have assumed there is also a day option, but it does not appear in the documentation.”

We do not have a day option, When using the month parameter in combination with the agendaDay parameter, it will always revert to the 1st.

I’ll make a feature request for the day parameter.
