Here’s the use case:
We offer classes in 10 week courses so recurring events and multiple events seem to be just what we need. Two of the courses each term get recorded with our video conference system and the video is made available to students via our current website (Drupal).
What I would like to do is not display expired events in the calendar (we have ~20 courses a term plus weekend workshops and retreats so I suspect performance will prefer events disappear as they occur) except for those that get recorded and attach the video to the page linked to from the calendar. I would prefer the calendar link to the registration page for upcoming events, but am sort of leaning to the “recording” pages be custom post types so I can template accordingly and I think it will also provide more access control options.
I would greatly welcome any recommendations on best practices.

Hi Mark,
I can’t see a way to automate this, but you could manually edit the event to ad din the video, setting the event status to ONGOING and hide the registration form. This would leave the event in the calendar, so the video can be accessed but make sure no one tries to register.
Custom post types cannot be added to the calendar, only events can, at least not without customising the calendar.

Thanks for the reply.
I omitted the fact that I am also hoping to automate the posting of the video. We have an automated process that transcodes the file and pushes it to our web host; I’m hoping I can use this to create a feed that WordPress will consume and update the appropriate entry. I notice the JSON Api does not have update capability so I assume I’m looking at a CVS Importer.
Let me also mention that I am not opposed to writing code if it is the best option.
I am going to go ahead and close this as I think it best at this point to get through the learning curve without creating unnecessary noise in the forum…my appologies for doing so.
