Hi, this is a bit of a general question; I’m having a nightmare styling the confirmation email in a way that makes it look even remotely appealing. I have plenty of experience with HTML templates, and have tried everything I know – from break tags to inline CSS to tables – but the WYSIWYG editor just strips everything out in seemingly random fashion and spits out an ugly email with odd spacing. Is there a trick to doing this? Thanks for your help!

I would ignore the WYSIWYG editor, keep it on the “Text” tab instead of switching to the “Visual” tab. That way you have complete control over the html. Now when you hit “Save” it will save what you have in the textfield to the database and that is what it will use for the email message. Unfortunately, it then takes what it just saved and runs it through the WP auto p function, which generates all the paragraph tags you are seeing, and displays the result in the textfield. If you then save again, it will write all those paragraph tags into the message stored in the DB.
I would even do the formatting in a text editor on your local machine and store a copy there, and when you have it ready copy and paste it into the email editing field in EE and hit save.

Hi Sidney – I already was formatting it in a text editor and pasting it into the ‘Text’ tab, and it was still messing things up. However, after playing around with it a bit longer, I figured out what the problem was; you can’t have any white space in the HTML ie. if you format the markup normally, with <p></p> on new lines, WordPress goes absolutely stupid and reformats it, EVEN THOUGH you’re in the ‘text’ tab. Ridiculous and annoying, but that’s the solution.
