OK, so everything was working wonderfully until I changed the date on one of my events. Then, without explanation, the Add-to-cart link stopped working. Previously, when I clicked on the Add-to-Cart link, it changed to a “view-cart” link. Strangely, after modifying the event date, that behavior stopped working. Now, it just returns to the “Add to Cart” link and no cart displays.
I tried deactivating several of the modules (MER, GROUPONS, TICKETING, and EE CORE) and reactivating and that didn’t fix it.
Any suggestions?

The odd behavior has gone away as mysteriously as it appeared. The cart functionality has returned and works as expected.
Sorry to bother you with what turned out to be a non-problem. I guess I just had to wait a bit for it to clear up.
