The plugin looks for a file from WordPress to control the AJAX, and it bases this on whether your site is in HTTP or HTTPS. Because your site is in HTTP it requests it in that format, but your Admin returns it as HTTPS because the SSL is set up for the admin only.
Some browsers do not allow this type of mixed request and return an error, as you are experiencing.
The simplest option would be to make sure that the Admin and Front end both have matching HTTP or HTTPS, that way the requests will always be on the same protocol and therefore valid.
