I use Symple Shortcodes in order to have a slider and the four latest posts on the homepage. When I installed and activated the API 2.0.0B, it broke the homepage. When I deactivated API, everything worked again. Thought you should know. |
|
Did it break the JavaScript on the page, or the layout? Can you be more specific. Thanks. |

I’m using Symple Shortcodes in a premium theme, Impact on Themeforest. |

Hi Ola, When the API is active, did you check to see if any errors came up? These are likely unseen unless you check the Developer Tools Console (its different for each browser, but Chrome, you would right click, select Inspect Element and click the Console link at the top of the window that opened.) |
|
I just checked. Unfortunately the Console is empty. Here’s what the page should look like. |
|
OK, I would need to test it first hand to see if there is anything obvious. Is it possible to get your login details in order to look into this? If so, please send them via https://eventespresso.com/send-login-details/ NOTE: login details need to be Admin level. |

Hmm, not sure about this there are no errors coming up but yeah activating the API stops it from working. I do have a few questions: Why can’t I deactivate the Shortcodes plugin? It simply fails to deactivate. The shortcode you have says symple_blog, but the plugin doesnt provide that shortcode. |
|
I have a test/dev installation with the exact same setup. So I checked regarding the Symple Shortcodes not deactivating. It looks like the Symple Shortcodes plugin is tied to the theme, so whenever the theme is activated, the plugin will not be deactivated. The blog shortcode comes from this icon, which doesn’t appear unless you have Symple Shortcodes installed and activated. |

Hi Ola, OK, so there is obviously a conflict between the two but I cannot figure out what it is. The api isnt affecting all shortcodes otherwise Event Espresso wouldnt run, so it has to be down to the way the theme/plugin is handling it. I’ll ask the API developer to wade in on this and see if he can offer some guidance. |

Hi Ola, I have passed this to a dev to look at but in the meantime, could you try upping your sites memory allocation and see if that helps? http://codex.wordpress.org/Editing_wp-config.php#Increasing_memory_allocated_to_PHP |

Hi Ola, Mike, one of the developers, came back and asked if you can turn on debugging for the site to see if we can get a more descriptive error to see what’s going on. Is it possible that you can do that and come back to us with the outcome please? |
