Admin-Ajax.php on Calendar page moving slow

Our site’s calendar is set up on http://www.gaytonchurch.org/calendar.

I’ve been trying to optimize our site’s load speed, and this page is particularly slow. After investigating, it looks like admin-ajax.php is hanging up halfway through the load process.

According to Pingdom’s speed test, it’s calling:

admin-ajax.php?action=get_calendar_events&noheader=true&start_date=1419221200&end_date=14227452008&show_expired=false

Is there anything I can do on the Event Espresso side to speed this up?

Hi,

The only thing that could possibly speed it up further is disabling the categories (and thus category colours) via the settings.

We have designed it so that the calendar script is one of the last things to load on the page and it uses AJAX to grab the data, so I’m not sure there’s much else we can do to speed it up.

Hmm, ok. I have noticed that the data itself is the last thing to load, and it’s really slow. Our site seems to be having some issues resolving the domain, so maybe that’s exacerbating the problem with ajax.

Thanks for the feedback.
