I’m using Event Espresso version 3.1.36.4.p
I was trying to figure out a way to add a line or two of text to the registration form. I needed to add the text “If you are logged in as a member, you don’t need a promo code.” I wanted this text to appear above the promo code field.
There is no direct option for inserting a “text block”. Event Espresso has Questions and Question Groups, and you can use those to put text on your registration form. The trick is hiding the Question/Answer from the user, but making visible the Group Name and Description, which you specify in the Question Group settings.
So to get my text to appear on the registration form here is what I did:
1) Went to Questions and created a “bogus” question as follows – “Is water wet?”
For Type, I used a Checkbox. I entered the word “Yes” in the Answer Options. I picked Yes for Required. I entered the word “blank” for Required Text. Then (a most important step) I picked Yes for Admin View Only.
2) Went to Question Groups and created a new Group Name called “No Promo Needed”. In the Description field I entered “If you are logged in as a member, you don’t need a promo code.” Then (a most important step) I clicked on both checkboxes – Show Group Name on Registration Page, and Show Group Description on Registration Page. Lastly, I chose only the “bogus” question to include in this Question Group.
If all the steps have been followed correctly, when you go to your registration page you will see the Group Name and Group Description text but you won’t see the bogus question.
Hope that explains it well enough. I’m sure I will find myself searching this forum for this post in a month or 2, when I forget how the heck I did it!
That’s a good workaround, thanks for sharing. You can use any question type and it doesn’t need to be required, the main thing is that the question is marked as Admin Only and then added to the question group.
