404 Error, How to Prevent?

The 404 error discussed in the thread below has now occurred a couple times and, while the solution works, we need to know why it would recur and prevent this from happening again. We only discovered this instance by accident and don’t want to be in the position that we have to frequently monitor what should be a reliable process. Please advise. Thanks.

Hi there,

That could happen if another plugin has been installed or updated recently that affects the permalinks on your site somehow.
