We’ve had an issue where occasionally users will get a “your form data could not be applied to any valid registrations” error. This happens infrequently (we’ve received a handful of reports over hundreds of registrations). It seems to happen on one particular event though.
We’ve tried:
• Making sure the plugins are up to date
• We don’t have any caching/minification plugins installed and have had our host exclude all required paths from server caching.
• Trying with and without the multi-event plugin enabled
• Trying with and without the base-64 encoding setting enabled
• Multiple browsers/devices (the most recent user tried on IE on a desktop and Safari on an iPad)
The various other forum posts on this topic haven’t provided a fix. I tried registering for the event myself with no trouble, and many other people have registered without difficulty. Because it’s intermittent I haven’t been able to discern any pattern.
Any thoughts as to what we could try?

Hi there,
Even when registration checkout pages are excluded from server caching, if the server runs garbage collection for the cache on a regular interval then the current session key can get wiped out when the garbage collection runs.
We’ve seen this happen with sites that have object caching activated where the registration process works most of the time, but if you’re in the middle of a registration and the garbage collection runs, then the session key is removed (the session key is stored as a transient in the wp_options table). When that session key is removed while the registration is still in progress, then you’ll see the “form data could not be applied to any valid registrations”.
If there is object caching activated, and the host cannot deactivate object caching, then maybe they can adjust the schedule for the garbage collection so it only runs during a time of the day when there’s minimal traffic on the site?
