WP User Integration is confusing end users

I setup WP user integration to accomplish two goals:
1. To add people to my email list automatically
2. So users could return to their registration
3. Users had info saved so when they return next event it would prepoulate.

People are having trouble when they try to register they then are sent to create a user, this is clumsy and confusing and then they have to wait for the email to activate and I am getting frustrated users.

I moved over to mailchimp and have just added the mailchimp integration so that should take care of the email even if they don’t login (I believe)

1. Is there a really easy plugin for registering?
2. Can I make it part of the registration form?
3. Can I import them in after the fact?
4. Will EE4 “remember” registration without it being tied to a WP user?
5. Is there a better way to accomplish the goals?

Thanks,
Sanford

Hi Sanford,

Correct, the users don’t need to be logged in to be added to the list.

However, you might want to change the setting within Event Espresso -> MailChimp -> Submit to MailChimp when …

It depends on when you want them subscribed to the list but you have 3 options to chose from there.

1. Is there a really easy plugin for registering?

I’m not sure what you’re asking for here? Registering onto the event requires some details, all registration plugins will require those details, however:

2. Can I make it part of the registration form?

The EE4 user integration add-on already has this as part of the add-on but it sounds like you are forcing users to register BEFORE they can register onto the event with this option – http://take.ms/bGZi9

If you notice the 2 options below EE can automatically create a WP user based on the registration information, but if you force login for registrations the user is required to log in or register before they can register onto the event so it won’t work.

3. Can I import them in after the fact?

Import users into WP? EE doesn’t have any kind of functionality for that.

4. Will EE4 “remember” registration without it being tied to a WP user?

What do you mean by remember? Registrations will still work if users are not logged in if that is what you mean.

EE does not require the registrant to be a WP Member, but for the auto fill functions to work they need to be one, otherwise EE doesn’t know where to pull the details from.

5. Is there a better way to accomplish the goals?

So far the only requirement that the EE4 User Integration Add-on is used for is:

3. Users had info saved so when they return next event it would prepoulate.

Is that a strict requirement?
