Hello, we are hosting a large conference next week for about 500 attendees. We are using Event Espresso 4 and have purchased the Developer License. We are planning to use the barcode scanner to check-in conference attendees, yet we would also like to be able to use that same attendee barcode to scan check-ins to each workshop. Is that possible with Event Espresso by setting up separate workshop “tickets” or would I have to just use an entirely different platform? Thanks! |
Hi Nikishna, You can use the same barcode to scan check-ins to each workshop, however it’s only possible if you create datetimes for each workshop within the event. If you set up separate tickets then each ticket will have its own barcode, which probably isn’t what you want. |

So in order to use the same attendee barcode throughout the event, we would just have to create several tickets or event date/times that registrants can select from during registration to choose their workshops, is that correct? So the registration tickets date/times would looks like the list below. Also, we are printing name badges and wanted to print the barcode on the badges to scan. What is the field used to create/generate the QR code recognized by the EventEspresso app? Is is the Reg ID, Attendee ID, email address, name, etc.? Thanks! Main Event – 11/9/17 @ 8:00am |
Not correct. You create the datetimes, but only one ticket. If you create many tickets where they select, they’ll be many different barcodes. You want one barcode, so in order to get one barcode, there needs to be one ticket. Each different ticket will have its own barcode.
The QR code data is the REG_url_link field from the esp_registration table |
