Working with the decaf version, while the license is active on the old site

Dear Support-Team,
the active license is connected to the old website. To get things done for the new website, we currently use the decaf version. The options are quite limited. Is there any workaround, that we can use all options on the new website, until we switch the sites? Working with the decaf is so frustrating, that we already consider buying a second license, just to continue with our work. Also we don’t know, if the transfer from decaf to full version is going to work.

Hi there,

You don’t need a second license for test/staging site. The license key is used for updates and support, other than that it has no effect on Event Espresso.

Create a database backup of the new site just to be safe.

Download the full version of Event Espresso from your account page.

De-activate and delete the decaf version you currently have installed.
(You will not lose any data when you do this)

Install the regular version and activate it there.

Run through any migration steps it requires.

Do NOT enter a license key on that site, EE will function as normal but will not allow automatic updates and we will not provide support for sites without a license.

Also we don’t know, if the transfer from decaf to full version is going to work.

Can you explain this further, please?

What don’t you think will work?

Thanks a lot, this solved our problem! The migration from decaf to full version worked fine too!
