WordPress Dashboard displays "Welcome to Event Espresso 4.7.9.p" permanently

I’m having difficulty getting the “Welcome to Event Espresso 4.7.9.p” message to quit displaying on the WordPress dashboard. This prevents me from being able to see other plugins or updating WordPress (which I need to do to kill a bug!).

. . . and yes, I’ve tried logging out and in, clearing my cache, etc. I even uninstalled and reinstalled the browser.
