We have been using this crossover for wishlist for our members to receive a thank you email after subscribing the link recently stopped working correctly. There was a link for the member to print their registration/receipt, that is not showing up now. Total newbie here, just winging it day by day with a site that was built for us. Any idea how I can fix this link to work again? Thanks

Hello,

Is the link completely blank (may be an error) or does some content appear?

Could you go to Event Espresso –> Messages –> Settings and then toggle the messages system on and off.

Also, could you provide us with a link to a sample receipt page so we can take a look?

The link works but I can’t get to where the yellow box is to set an order confirmation invoice. Thanks for your help.

Hi, we’ll need a link to the thank page after an actual registration.

If we browse there directly, then nothing is shown as there is no actual registration information to reference.

This is what is seen after the actual registration. The yellow box with “We’re sorry…
This is a system page for displaying transaction information after a purchase.
You are most likely seeing this notice because you have navigated to this page
through some means other than completing a transaction.
Sorry for the disappointment, but you will most likely find nothing of interest here.”
Thank You for your Registration.

If paying by check, please be sure to print your Order Confirmation invoice (linked below inside the yellow box) and send it with your check payment to the address indicated on the invoice.

Thanks. That is what we see as well. It should actually show information about the recent registration.

Who is your web host?

Are there any caching plugins in use on your site such as W3 total or WP super cache?

Could you go to Event Espresso –> General Settings –> Critical pages? Does the status and shortcode appear okay for each page (green)?

We use bluehost. I do not see any caching plugins. In fact this is an issue at the critical pages: Registration Checkout Page-Page visibility problem(shortcut ok). The other areas there are green.

Hello, it should look like this:

http://cl.ly/0C3b2s3f291A

Could you edit the page that has an issue (via the edit) link and ensure that it has the correct shortcode and that it is publicly published?

Let us know if that helps

It is “published” now and looks just like your screenshot. The short code is [ESPRESSO_CHECKOUT] Still getting that same page with the yellow box “We’re sorry..”

When you navigate to that link directly that’s all you should see.

When you finish a registration you’ll have a url that looks like this:

http://www.stsw.org/conference/thank-you/?e_reg_url_link=1-8c707eeccca04823dffd77682b73a49e

(Note that link is not valid, just an example)

The additional details within the URL are what tell EE what it should display on the thank-you page.

I tried to run a registration on your unprotected event to demonstrate this, however the event has no valid tickets, can you create a new test event so we can run a test registration and confirm if its working correctly please?

It is the membership where the issue occurs. Run a test membership at http://www.stsw.org/members/become-a-member/ then bottom right of page-register by check. It was working fine for our event just not for membership…

Ahhh, now I see.

Yeah so Wishlist is directing to the thank-you page and EE is also loading on that page.

So do you currently have [ESPRESSO_THANK_YOU] within that thank you page?

First flush your permalinks. Go to Dashboard -> Settings -> Permalinks.

Make no changes and just save the settings. Now retest.

If it still doesn’t work can you create a new page within Dashboard -> Pages.

Call it ‘Thanks’ just for testing (you can change it later if needed)

On that page add the [ESPRESSO_THANK_YOU] shortcode and publish the page.

No within Event Espresso -> General Settings -> Critical pages, set the thank you page to the ‘Thanks’ page you just created and save.

Finally flush your permalinks once more and retest the registration, does it work now?

Still didn’t work. Yellow box still showing the “We’re sorry…”

What is the new thank you page for EE set to now? Can you link me to it?

The only ‘thanks’ page I can find is:

http://www.stsw.org/thanks-for-joining/

But that does not seem to be using the [ESPRESSO_THANK_YOU] shortcode, so I’m not sure if that’s the correct page?

Hello, could you share a temporary login so we can further troubleshoot this issue?

Looking over your site it looks like Wishlist has been set to re-direct to the new thankss page – http://take.ms/BCvTe

That means that when a user registers onto your site (not an EE event but a user registration) they will be redirect to the EE thank you page, which won’t work and will display the yellow box mentioned above.

So that we can advise the best way to set this up can you let me know what it is your trying to do with the wishlist registration?

What should happen is the user registers onto your site and is directed to some form of landing page (not the EE thank you page as they have not registered onto an event), from there they can select an EE event and register onto that, but with your current setup that can’t happen. So the changes that need to be made depend on what it is your trying to do.

We have been using check out through ee for wl membership plugin. Members need to print out their registration for membership when paying by check and mail in to us. It was linked in the yellow box. Not sure how to get that back.

Did members register onto an event before applying for membership?

Actually they will get a free membership with an event. Some do not register for an event at all-only get membership. That is what is occuring now until May or June.

Hello,

This link that you described here would not appear when you activate Wishlist Member and Event Espresso 4 on the same site:

Members need to print out their registration for membership when paying by check and mail in to us. It was linked in the yellow box. Not sure how to get that back.

The yellow box that is shown during registration checkout is generally for the congratulations messaging.

Were you previously working with a web developer on customizing Event Espresso?

Yes we were and he is unavailable now. Where would the link be to the registration form?

Hello,

We are flexible on support but our support services do not include going through and updating code that was previously customized by a prior developer. It is unfortunate that you are no longer in touch with your prior developer so we can make some suggestions on where the changes may have been made to try to get you back on track.

The congratulations messaging area (yellow box at the top of the thank you page) can be changed by using this filter:

FHEE__thank_you_page_overview_template__order_conf_desc

Here is an example of how to change the specific messaging using that filter:

https://gist.github.com/lorenzocaum/b0fef298c2ecb2965353

We recommend that the filter be added to the site in two places:

1) If a child theme is in use, then it could be in the child theme’s functions.php file

or

2) A site specific plugin (https://eventespresso.com/wiki/create-site-specific-plugin-wordpress-site/)

Also, you can reach out to an Event Espresso professional here if you are needing someone to take over custom development on your site:

Lorenzo, you have gone WAY above and beyond to assist. I really appreciate it. I will go through your steps and either fix it or hire someone. 🙂 Thank you again!!
