Hi,

We host various training courses that are usually single day or half days. These courses can occur any time of the week and many weeks in a row.
Here is a list of things that we need and wondering if event espresso is the right plugin.

  • Calendar with events
  • Ability to click course in calendar and go through and register
  • Register for multiple courses and register multiple people
  • Manage users ie. edit their bookings and accounts, some sort of CRM
  • Event analytics ie view particular course and see who attended

I look forward to your reply.

Thanks

Another must have is:

  • Allow a course to have multiple instances ie it it could be run on Monday and Wednesday one week and only Friday the next but it needs to be the same course

  • Make tickets per event. Currently if their are multiple events of the same event and a ticket is bought the ticket can be used for all instances of the event. I know more tickets can be created but wanted to check I didnt miss this feature.
  • Register for event and select number of attendees without buying a ticket

Hi,

Thanks for your interest in Event Espresso. We currently have two versions of our plugin: EE3 and EE4.

We are migrating the features from EE3 over to EE4 so not all features are available for both.

You can find out more about the differences here: https://eventespresso.com/differences-ee4-ee3/

You can also demo EE4 for free over at http://demoee.org

Calendar with events

Yes both versions have a calendar addon plugin available for them.

Ability to click course in calendar and go through and register

Yes.

Register for multiple courses and register multiple people

Registering multiple courses is only currently available for EE3 via the Multiple Event Registration addon. We are planning this for EE4 as well but there is no release date as yet.

Registering multiple people is available by default in both versions.

Manage users ie. edit their bookings and accounts, some sort of CRM

Both versions allow you to edit attendees. There isn’t a CRM as such.

Event analytics ie view particular course and see who attended

Event analytics are fairly basic – they provide number of tickets sold, earnings per event that sort of thing. You can of course always view the attendee list of each event.

Allow a course to have multiple instances ie it it could be run on Monday and Wednesday one week and only Friday the next but it needs to be the same course

EE4 excels at this as it allows each event to have multiple datetimes and tickets can be associated with one, multiple or all the datetimes.

EE3 would require individual events to be created for each date, unless they are consecutive dates.

Make tickets per event. Currently if their are multiple events of the same event and a ticket is bought the ticket can be used for all instances of the event. I know more tickets can be created but wanted to check I didnt miss this feature.

If I understand you correctly, then EE4’s datetimes are what you will need here.

Register for event and select number of attendees without buying a ticket

There are two ways to do this in EE: either set the event as Pre Approval meaning that the admin will have to approve each registration before they are sent payment details. Or the admin can allow Invoice payments and the ticket buyer can select that as their payment method

I hope that helps, please let me know if you have any other questions and please do give EE4 a test drive ( http://demoee.org ), as it will help provide a clear view of whether it is suitable for your needs or not.

sorry that questions was expressed poorly. Ill try again. Currently when there are multiple instances of an event with a ticket and a customer buys a ticket this allows them it allows access to all event unless multiple tickets are created. But because we can have the same event anywhere from 5 times a month the ticket options are going to build up. So i guess my question is, is it possible to have one ticket but when the customer registers and buys a ticket can they select which instance of the event they wish to attend (also only future instances)?

I have been using the demo and I like what I see but need to make sure it will fit our requirements.

Thanks

Hi, each ticket option is linked to a datetime. If you wanted a registrant to access a specific datetime or datetimes, then you would need to set that ticket to be able to access those datetimes through the event editor.

Here is a screenshot of what that might look like:

Great thanks for the quick reply. So what you are saying is that I will have to create a new ticket each time I create a new instance of each event, if I want to associate one ticket to one instance? See image here, it shows that the user can access each instance of the event since I only created one ticket.

Hi,

“So i guess my question is, is it possible to have one ticket but when the customer registers and buys a ticket can they select which instance of the event they wish to attend (also only future instances)?”

It depends, it could be done with one ticket or may require more, as it depend on your set up.

In EE4 you can create an event, and give it datetimes. So if you have a single event that is spread out once per Monday in February (4 times) you can assign a ticket to one, multiple or all of those datetimes.

If you need to give the client access to only one of those Mondays for each ticket purchased, but they can select which Monday they want, then you would need four tickets, each one assigned to a single datetime.

If the client can access all the Mondays, then one ticket can be assigned to all four datetimes.

Also a ticket bought for one event, cannot be used in another event.

I think form your other comment above it’s easier to think of datetimes as individual sessions or parts of a single event.

I hope that helps, but if I’m off track please advise.
