Is it possible to change the defaults on the EE Upcoming Events widget… lines 93 – 103 of the EEW_Upcoming_Events.widget.php file. E.g. the image-size from medium to thumbnail.

Hi there,

By default, there is an option to adjust the image size in the “EE Upcoming Events widget”. For that, you need to Edit the “EE Upcoming Events widget” and you can see an option for “Image Size” You can adjust the image size there and save the changes for a better result.
