Why is v4 cheaper than v3?

Why is the v3 developer edition $549 but the v4 developer edition is only $199?

I assumed v4 was an ‘upgrade’ to v3 but version 4 seems to be lacking some great features. Can you explain?

If version 4 IS indeed an upgrade and still a beta … If I purchase version 3 now (since it seems to have more features than v4), will I qualify for an upgrade when version 4 is released and includes ALL features?

Hi, this is explained in our release blog post:

It is discounted around 50% while it is in beta.

If you purchased Event Espresso 3, then you will receive a copy of Event Espresso 4.
