Hi, I’m planning to change my laptop soon. However, I am also planning to the EE Developer License at the same time. So what happens if I get the EE license first, and then change my laptop 3 or 4 months later? Is the EE license tied to my laptop (when I download it) or can I copy and move it to my new laptop without paying for another license?

Hi Lee,
Your support license will be tied to whichever live site you assign it too.
Is your laptop going to be used for development?

Yes, my laptop will be used for development. Once done, I will have to port that to a live site. If I understand correctly, that means I can ‘reinstall’ EE on my new laptop (for development purposes). It’s only the support license that will be tied to my live site. Am I correct in my understanding?

Hi,
That’s correct. We highly recommend only installing the licence key on the live site. It mainly means that you will not get automatic updates on the development server,m though you can still update manually.
