Sorry for the noob question but I can’t find anything in the docs. What does member only event mean exactly? Does it mean that you can’t see it unless you’ve registered before? How does this work because I’m not asking registrant for a user id and password?

Right. The member-only events is a setting to require people to register for your website before they can register for an event. The WP Users Integration (https://eventespresso.com/product/espresso-members/) addon also allows users to pre-fill in some registration data so they can fill out the forms more quickly.

If you’re not requiring attendees to be logged in to register, or offering logged-in users a special price, then you might consider deactivating the WP Users Integration addon.

Is there any way that I can register a user WHEN they purchase? I want to charge to register for a conference and then allow choices of free classes available once they have paid (and become a member).

Member only events seem not only to prevent registration for non-logged-in persons, but also do not display in the events lists. In another post, a user was advised to uncomment a line of code, but even after doing that, no event details for member only events appear. How can we induce non-members to sign up if they can’t see the event info?

@studioarthouseinc
I believe this is getting fixed in .28. Previously you’d need to customize the output of the member-only events for the events to display.
