What about registering for part of an event?

Some of our clients want to register for an entire 4-day event. Other clients want to register for 2 of those days. It is clear how to provide tickets for the clients who want to visit the event as a whole. Is it possible to provide tickets for individual days of an event as well? Can we do both on the same event?

Hi there,

You need additional tickets for each of the ‘options’ you want to provide.

For example, if you have a 4-day event you could have something like:

Day 1 Ticket
Day 2 Ticket
Day 3 Ticket
Day 4 Ticket
Full Event Ticket

Assuming you have each day as a separate datetimes you can have each of the ‘Day’ tickets explicitly assigned to the single day DateTime it needs and the ‘Full’ ticket set to all 4 datetimes.

Can you link me to the even in question so you can see how you currently have it set up?

Here is the event in question:
https://literacyresearchassociation.org/events/2022-annual-meeting/

This is a really complicated event. Here is an explanation of what we have done so far:

We have 6 different types of tickets – Professional Members / Non-Members; Student Members / Non-Members; and Emeritus Members / Non-Members.

Plus, we have 3 different prices for each of those 6 different ticket types, based on when they purchase. We have Earliest registration (cheapest), Early Registration (cheaper), and Day-Of Registration (normal price).

So altogether, we have 18 different tickets – 6 membership types X 3 date prices.

(If you want admin access to the site, so you can review how we set things up, I am happy to provide in a private chat or setting.)

We want to provide the option for folks to sign up for only a single day. They wouldn’t get the 3 different date prices – just a single price. But it would be separated out by membership type. So 6 membership types X 4 days.

I am attaching a link to an image in my Google docs that represents visually how this is laid out.

Am I correct in assuming that an additional 24 tickets would need to be added?

Do you have any recommendations for how to best accomplish what we are attempting to do. Even if we have to do something out of the ordinary, that is fine. For example, if we have to split these two ticket types into two different events and then just combine them on a single page using shortcodes, or something creative like that – that is fine. Any suggestions you have would be helpful. We are very savvy with WordPress and with PHP and custom code. We just want to find the best way to get your plugin to work in the way we are hoping.

I have not received a response to the above question. Please respond. Thank you.

Hi there,

yes, actually, you would have 42 ticket options. If you’re going to charge a fee for these options, and use the fees or tickets to limit registrations based on capacity, then you’ll need to use tickets like you’re imagining.
