The extension is installed and the shortcode is on the page, but the calendar doesn’t display.

Hi there,

May I ask how the shortcode has been added to the page?

Are you using a page builder? If so, if you temporarily create a page and add the shortcode directly to that without using the page builder, does it work then?

Hi,
I have tried using the do_shortcode( ‘[ESPRESSO_CALENDAR]’ ) as well as adding shortcode into the pagebuilder page but nothing is appearing at front side.

Even I can’t see any errors in console or network tab for ajax requests ( No ajax request also )

Please help me with the steps to follow to make it up and running. Name of any addon If there is depedencies to load calendar view at frontend.

Thanks a lot.

The shortcode isn’t parsing to an empty trying on the page you linked to, there is no ‘calendar’ element to render, but why I can’t see.

I have tried using the do_shortcode( ‘[ESPRESSO_CALENDAR]’ )

Usually what happens when you do that is the shortcode parses and outputs the HTML placeholders (same as they do when using the shortcode in a page) but the calendar scripts then aren’t enqueued as EE can’t detect the shortcode usage that way.

Was that on a different page to the above?

as well as adding shortcode into the pagebuilder page but nothing is appearing at front side.

Which page builder?

Can you try adding the shortcode to a page directly within the WP editor, not a page builder?

Even I can’t see any errors in console or network tab for ajax requests ( No ajax request also )

There’s nothing being rendered on the page for the JS to start triggering requests, the JS is basically checking for the HTML placeholder elements I mentioned to then trigger loading the calendar, without those elements, nothing loads and no ajax requests are sent.

Please help me with the steps to follow to make it up and running. Name of any addon If there is depedencies to load calendar view at frontend.

The only dependency for the calendar add-on to work is the add-on itself.

I have tried withou page builder and it is not working still, but I found it working on post instead of page. Why is that? Is there anything that need to install and might be selection of parent page or anything?

You can check the post https://artspotonwheels.com/vineyard/simple-calendar-view/ here and I can see the Calendar view but with the exact same shortcode it is not working with the page.

Please assist in the above case.

Thanks a lot

Hmm, that’s odd, the theme may be doing something strange when outputting pages.

Can you first check if any errors are being logged within the server error logs when you load the ‘non’ working calendar page? (not the console, looking for PHP errors)

Is there anything that need to install and might be selection of parent page or anything?

We don’t have any requirements like this, however, the theme controls the majority of the output and other plugins can do a million and one different things.

This is the first time I’ve seen the shortcode not parse within a page like this though, usually, the shortcode will parse but the scripts aren’t enqueued.

Which theme are you using?

I have checked with the logs, but there is nothing, it is really a strange. here is the installed theme for theme for thr website https://wordpress.org/themes/responsive/ but I am sure it is not case of theme because it is working with the post then it should work well with the page.

Do you offer any custom template for to load the calendar view, If you please help me with that and I can run the custom template in my theme if it is all about the problem with theme.

I am sure it is not case of theme because it is working with the post then it should work well with the page.

Both of those outputs can be controlled completely independently by the theme so it’s totally possible to break one and not the other 🙂 it all depends on what the theme (and child theme) is doing.

Can you publish a new page which is not using the page builder and link me to that page please, I’d like to check what is being output to that page.

Sure, please check this https://artspotonwheels.com/calendar-support/ here I have created page without using any page builder.

It is strange, why it is not working with page. I have question is the plugin compatible with the Responsive https://wordpress.org/themes/responsive/ theme?

Can you post a screenshot of the page editor for that page, please?

Your site is using an old version of Responsive so I can’t say for sure, but the calendar loads on the latest version on one of my test sites (Quick example HERE).

Your version is: 3.16.4

The latest version is: 4.7.3

Your site is also using a child theme, based on responsive, which could be doing a whole but of other things that I can’t see.

It may not be the theme here, I can’t say for sure.

First, create a database backup before moving forward (just to be safe).

One way to confirm if this is the theme is to use the WP Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin:

https://wordpress.org/plugins/health-check/

Install and activate it on the site, then go to Tools -> Health Check -> Troubleshooting. Enable Troubleshooting mode.

That will deactivate all plugins and switch you to a default theme, but only for you (the logged-in admin).

In the admin bar go to troubleshooting mode and Manage Active Plugins.

Enable Event Espresso and the Calendar add-on

Check your calendar page again, can you see the calendar?
