I’ve set up an event and am testing it. I set the total number of tickets available to 1, then purchased a ticket, and now I see “sold out” for the tickets, but no “wait list” button. I’ve set the wait list spaces to 10. Is there something else I need to do to get the wait list button to show up?

Hi there,

The waitlist add-on works on the event status, it will show an option to register on the waitlist when the event itself is sold out rather than a single ticket.

Can you link me to the event in question so I can take a look?

Hmm, strange. That event doesn’t have a status of sold out (the tickets do, but not the event)

Can you add a screenshot of your ‘Event Tickets & Datetimes’ section here, please?

Looks like you’ve uncovered a bug with archived tickets there.

The issue with the above is due to the fact that the archived ticket still (and now always will) have 1 space available on it and it’s throwing off the calculations.

I’ve created a ticket to investigate this and fix but in the meantime, are you comfortable with PHP at all?

I can give you a snippet to update that archived tickets qty field to work around this for now if you are comfortable applying it on your site? (Or using something like phpMyAdmin you can also update the field manually if comfortable doing so)

Oh boy, do I win a prize?

Yep, the prize is figuring out how to fix/workaround it 🙂

What I was looking to do here, was add a snippet to your site that will update the ‘Qty’ field of that archived ticket to match the sold value. The tickets sold count needs to be used within the calculations so we can’t just skip it but as a quick fix for you that should work.

However, I then realized that there is a quicker fix in your case as you can simply recreate the event (duplicate it if preferred) and then trash the old one, the new event will not have the archived ticket and as your current registrations are all test registrations it saves you using a snippet to fix it.

Will that work for you or do you want to try a snippet?
