'Wait List' issue

Hello, our client has been in touch to let us know that someone managed to sign up to a ‘wait list’ for one of their events. The customer called them to let them know that they had a registration code, but hadnt paid – when the client went to check, they could see that she had registered but was on the ‘wait list’. We are not sure why or how this has happened, as there shouldnt be a wait list option on the site. Could you please let me know how we can ensure this does not happen again? Thanks.

Hi there,

Did/Do you have the Waitlist add-on installed on the site?

Did the user provide any details on what they had done with the registration at all?

Hello,

I can confirm that the waitlist addon is not installed on the site.

Here is the message that our client sent to us regarding the issue:

A new thing I’ve not seen before on our website registrations, people on a Wait List? She called saying she has a registration code but hadn’t paid, when I looked I saw her registered but as on the wait list. We would rather not have a wait list, and certainly not have people sent registrations codes that have not paid, please can you look into this.

Unfortunately that is all of the information we have been provided.

So it’s not that the user has been put onto a waitlist, but their registration status has somehow been updated to Waitlist.

Unfortunately from the info above I can’t tell you how that has happened, I can dig into the event setup a little more and make some educated guesses but we’d need more details from the user to know how this happened.

For example, is the event now closed or expired and they tried to pay using a link within one of the emails?

Can you link me to the event so I can view how its set up?

I will ask the client if it is possible that they were sent a link after it had sold out and they tried to pay.

If they’ve registered using say an offline payment method, then returned to the event using the links within the emails after the event had sold out it’s possible the registration will have the status updated to wait list that way.

I’ll do some digging into this to confirm.
