I created an overflow event for a class and have everything set up. However, the Join Wait List link is not showing up. https://www.nfcbootcamp.com/event-registration/?ee=36 Does this have anything to do with customizing the event_list_display.php? Help? What do I need to do? |
Hi Tracee, What event is configured as the wait list event for your NFC bootcamp? https://eventespresso.com/wiki/create-a-waiting-list-for-your-event/ |

Hi, Garth. Here is my waitlist event: https://www.nfcbootcamp.com/event-registration/?ee=47 Can’t figure out what I’m missing. |
Hi, Can you check the settings in the none waitlist event (id 36) it should look like this http://d.pr/i/Dsvg (I called the waitlist event waitlist, so your dropdown will have a different event name) Also is the waitlist event got the Event Status as “waitlist” ? |
Hi, Dean, I just checked the settings in both. And my event id 36 is set up for Assign a Waitlist Event? = Yes, and Overflow Event: NFC Bootcamp Chicago Waitlist. The waitlist (id=47) shows current status as WAITLIST |

Hmmm ok. Is it possible to get your login details in order to look into this? If so, please send them via https://eventespresso.com/send-login-details/ NOTE: login details need to be Admin level and FTP details are appreciated. |

just sent the info over. thanks so much for helping out. I followed the instructions exactly as they are listed in the forums and documentation, and just can’t figure out why it isn’t working. I think I did everything correctly? |

September 13, 2013 at 10:02 am Hi, This took me some time, and had me scratching my head, as everything is in perfect order, there is nothing wrong with the setup at all. What I believe has happened (I havent tested it yet) is that you have the Legacy stylesheets and the Themeroller settings both active. The legacy stylesheet is over riding the Themeroller so instead of a button being shown it has no background and white text so it is invisible. Though if you move your mouse about the pointer changes and you can click it still. My advise is to turn off the legacy style sheets and allow Themeroller to do its work. These settings are in the Template Settings page. |

September 13, 2013 at 10:49 am OMG, I LOVE YOU. It worked. Although, if you look at the events page now, each even “width” gets progressively smaller? https://www.nfcbootcamp.com/event-registration/ Is that intentional? |

September 13, 2013 at 11:38 am ๐ I’ve seen the forever shrinking events before, its usually due to an old template file or a wrongly modified template file. I notice you have the event_list.php and event_list_display.php files in the uploads section. You can try renaming that folder (there is a handy button in the Template Settings for this, or via FTP) so the plugin uses the default templates. That should resolve it, if not please let me know. Protestations of love [of Event Espresso] are always welcome but should be shared with the world https://eventespresso.com/about/help-us-help-you-how-to-share-event-espresso/ |

September 13, 2013 at 11:59 am Thanks for the suggestion, Dean. I’m hesitant to rename anything ’cause I edited those templates for specific language that I wanted (not showing available spaces, etc.). I’m not a php guru, but I’m learning. Will definitely share the love … you guys are great. |
I would still suggest temporarily renaming that folder (via FTP or your web hosts control panel), you can always change it back. This will let you know if indeed it is a template issue. If you don’t then its hard to say what exactly is the issue, but the more events you add the smaller they will get. And thank you for sharing the love! |
Okay, I did it. And that fixed the ever diminishing event listings … but my customizations went away. I’m going to change the name back (temporarily) until I figure out what customization in my templates is wrong. Thanks for that, though. It helps. |
No problem, so we know it is definitely the templates. My gut feeling is that it might be as simple as a missing closing div tag. |
๐ simple for you … LOL. It took me forever to find the instructions on what I wanted to do in the first place, and like I said earlier, I am not a php guru. But we’ll figure it out. I am determined. ๐ Thanks again. At least we’ve narrowed it down and we’re on our way. |
Woo Hoo. You were right. It was an ending </div> at the end of the event_display_list.php It’s working and my customization is there! Yay! Display boxes are all the same now. It’s a beautiful thing. |
๐ I grimaced when I pressed enter if I am honest, finding missing closing tags is a pain. There are some online tools (Google something like – html find missing div tags) but they are hit and miss in my opinion, they don’t always find the issue. |
I grimaced when I read it. Fortunately, I’m using dreamweaver and did a validate on a file that was customized before I took over the website. And you were right. Just needed to add that final div tag at the end of the file to close everything up (lucky guess or just brilliance … not saying which). But it worked! |
I would go with brilliance ๐ Glad you got it sorted though. I am marking this one as resolved. |
