Wait list cancellation paid

Dear Support,

I understand this ticket might come across as vague, because I myself don’t have a clear view of what exactly has happened in the past few weeks, apology in advance.

For a client’s website the following steps have been done:

– A new event was created from scratch
– The default register state was set to not approved, this due to us checking if the demand was big enough for the event itself.
– After a number of submissions the default state was switched from not approved to approved.

At this time I’m unable to give a more detail description of the events that have happened (due to a lack of information), however I can describe what currently is the case:

A number of participants have the status of “Wait List” their prices (though different ticket types) are prepended with the the ticket type followed by “free”, the total price is 0.00 and their payment status has a green checkmark.
Upon a closer inspection of the the registration I’m seeing that the ordered item’s type is “Ticket (1 Cancellation)”. However the price afterwards seems to be correct.

We’re wondering the following things:

How do users get on the wait list?
How come the payment of a user has been set to the green checkmark even though they haven’t paid?
How come the invoice has the status of succeeded, but still has the cancellation inside of it and a price of 0.00?

Hi,

May I ask was the event close to being sold out at the time the status was switched to Wait List? What will happen is if the number of Approved registrations + Reserved registrations (or registrations in progress) meet the limit, then the status of any additional registrations in progress will automatically get switched to Wait List. This helps avoid overselling the event.
