We have invested in Event Espresso because it seems to have a suite of plugins that can help us manage a yearly multi-city, multi-day event for volunteer registration. Our event is run by two non-profits and our volunteers are very important. Five times a year our show starts Th-Su and we have about 30 different “jobs” for 4 hours shifts across 14 hours a day. Our volunteer registrants need to be able to register, receive a confirmation authentication via email, click on the authentication, return to the website and sign-up for a shift. At will they may return to change their shift. If they change a shift and email alerts volunteer and admin that a shift change has occurred. This profile allows them to see shifts and sign-up for them easily. The admin is able to create more shifts at will. Which Event Espresso plugins and what set-up configuration would accomplish this? Can you provide a step by step procedure to do this most efficiently? Will multiple cities (separate volunteer databases) be possible? Thanks! Joseph |

Hi Joseph, Firstly I am sorry about the delay in responding to this. Out of the box EE doesnt provide that sort of functionality but we may be able to help get you part way there. I am going to forward this onto Chris one of the other support guys here as he created an internal system using recurring events to create a shift like system for us, so if he can describe what he did it may assist you in your goals. |

thanks! |

A step by step list on how to do it would be greatly appreciated |

Hello gentlemen. I am presuming that we can create a volunteer registration system using these add-ons: Is that correct? |

Yes, using those add-ons, you should be able to create a volunteer registration system. The only snag I can see is the need for the volunteer to be able to un-register from a shift from their profile. There, the volunteer would have to email (maybe a contact form on the site) to the organizers to have them un-registered through the admin interface. To have seperate databases for the different cities, you might try using WordPress multisite. Just make sure you don’t use the network install for Event Espresso. You’ll want to install EE on each sub-site individually. |
