I am recycling this question into its own topic. I use Volume Discounts because my management believes that its an important part of product pricing. This question is meant to help me understand how Volume Pricing is supposed to calculate the reduction from the price.

I created three categories of EE Events only the first category is checked for Volume Discount.

>>If my customer purchases events from category 2 and category 3, then all cart totals get calculated properly — with no discounts applied.

>>If the customer purchases category 1 events, then the proper Volume Discount is applied once the volume threshold is reached. This works properly.

>> However, if the customer adds enough category 1 events to qualify for the volume discount, but purchases a few items from Category 2 and/or 3 (which are not supposed to be discounted), the CART incorrectly calculates identical volume discounts for all the items inside the cart.

It applies the discount to the total of the cart, not just to the event items that are supposed to qualify for the discount using the Category method.

I thought that EE should ignore applying volume discounts to any line items that were not checked as categories qualified for Volume Discounts?

Hi Orest,

Volume Discounts currently doesn’t work very well with MER, but we do have a ticket raised to resolve this and combine the two add ons more closely. I will add this issue to that ticket.

Thanks for letting us know.
