Very old EE3 not upgrading to EE4

We inherited a WordPress site with a very old version of EE3 that needed to be upgraded and accidentally purchased support for EE4 instead of EE3.

After reading that events should migrate from EE3 to EE4 on installation I took the opportunity to upgrade however I suspect the version of EE3 was so old it didn’t know how to provide the data for EE4 to pick up.

I followed the following process:

  1. Disabled EE3
  2. Installed EE4
  3. Enabled EE4
  4. Was expecting to have it go in to maintenance mode and import the existing EE3 events as was described in the help page I was reading but that didn’t happen and I would have to re-configure everything.

To resolve this I’d like to either:

  • Get an updated version of EE3 that I can install first, then migrate to EE4 maintaining all the existing events
  • Swap the EE4 license for an EE3 one
  • Get a refund and install the EE3 Lite Plugin instead.

You can get the latest version of Event Espresso 3 from github. After you install and activate that version, the data will be ready for EE4. Here’s a direct download link:
