Hi,
We are negotiating with a new venue (it’s a city centre bar where we would be holding regular wine tasting events). They propose that they would sell some of the tickets (deducting a commission) to their regular customers, and we would sell as usual via EE4. I wonder if anyone else has handled this situation and if so how? I suppose we could list say 50% of the tickets but there is obviously the danger of either overbooking or losing sales here?
Thanks,
David

You are right, having two distribution sources has the potential for overselling or underselling. Usually if someone wants to earn a commission for selling tickets, it’s done via affiliate marketing where sales are tracked on your website for where the ticket sale originated (e.g. specific referral url). OR the venue buys the tickets for a reduced price and is responsible for the gain or loss on those tickets, but you would not try to sell out the number of tickets they agreed to sell.

Does that help?

Hi,
Thanks for your help. You’ve certainly given us some ideas to work with.
