Hi Laura,

Can you check to see if the Venue is assigned to that particular event?

TOCIFT

April 13, 2018 at 6:08 am

It seems to be. Is there another place it needs to be set? Screenshot

Are the registrations a part of a group registration on different events or is it just on a single event?

TOCIFT

April 16, 2018 at 5:17 pm

All the registations that come through will be from single events that are set up on a page that has multiple events set up for different ticket types. This one is from the Volunteers, which had to be a separate event from the main event because they had to be approved.

So all registrations will effectively be multi-event registrations?

This one is from the Volunteers, which had to be a separate event from the main event because they had to be approved.

Did they select tickets from more than one EE event?

TOCIFT

Not in this case, but a few may register from more than one if they are also adding volunteers.

I’ve just tried to register onto the event to test this, however, due to the reCaptcha error from your other thread I can’t register.

Can you temporarily disable reCaptcha so I can view this? You can do that through:

Event Espresso -> Registration form -> Reg form settings ->
Use reCAPTCHA

The ReCAPTCHA is working now.

Ok, I ran a registration but I’ve not received any emails.

The registration shows as ‘Not Approved’ but the above email looks like a Reg Approved email, can you change the status of my registration and trigger messages so I receive that email, please?

TOCIFT

April 18, 2018 at 8:50 am

The approval is done.

TOCIFT

April 18, 2018 at 8:52 am

I believe you should have received an email that told you that your approval was pending. Can you tell me if that ever came though? If not, we need to fix that.

I has some volunteers register earlier and they got their emails, but that was before I made the Volunteer registration a Needs Approval Reg.

TOCIFT

April 18, 2018 at 8:54 am

Actually, now that I think of it, they may have only seen the end of the registration message that said “Not Approved” at the time.

TOCIFT

April 18, 2018 at 8:56 am

I did just notice that the “send related messages” was marked “no”. I have changed that to “yes”. That was probably the issue on that little problem.

TOCIFT

April 18, 2018 at 9:00 am

Well… scratch that. I moved away from your reg status page and then back again and the status for sending the messages went back to “no”. So, I’m not sure that behavior is working as it is supposed to or not.

Honestly, the information they get right after registration seem enough for me. Can you think of a reason they would need to receive a message that tells them they are awaiting approval?

TOCIFT

April 18, 2018 at 9:03 am

On a more important note, I, as the admin, did not receive an email letting me know that the approval was needed. I would think I would need that.

Thanks for your help Tony!

Laura

I just checked and I’ve had no emails at all from your site.

I did just notice that the “send related messages” was marked “no”. I have changed that to “yes”. That was probably the issue on that little problem.

You (the admin) may want to change the status of a registration, but not send the emails when doing so, which is what that setting is for. It will default to no on each page load, but if you change the registration status and leave that unchecked, no messages are triggered, if you change the reg status and check that box before clicking update, it tells EE to trigger the messages for the registration change.

Make sense?

Honestly, the information they get right after registration seem enough for me. Can you think of a reason they would need to receive a message that tells them they are awaiting approval?

There could be lots of reasons, but if you’ve set a registration to ‘Not Approved’ generally you’ll want the user to know that something is happening behind the scenes by the admin (as in they are checking whatever they need to to allow that registration)

On a more important note, I, as the admin, did not receive an email letting me know that the approval was needed. I would think I would need that.

Go to Event Espresso -> Messages.

In the message activity list, can you see the email’s to me and yourself?

If so, what colour ‘status bar’ do they have to the left of each message?

I do not see a color status bar screenshot

Your status bar is grey, which means the messages are queued for generating – http://take.ms/dvtLQ9

Were the messages working before the domain changed or did you move the site in the end?

If you install this plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-cron-status-checker/

Then look at the main dashboard page you’ll see something like this – http://take.ms/CaGjT

What does it show on your site?

I see this:

WP-Cron is working as of 04/19/2018 12:08:50 pm

I believe the messages were working. I did receive them when I ran tests, but I wondered if they were going to the admin or the actual desired recipient.

Hi Laura,

You’ll notice that in each of the above screenshots there’s a Recipient Context switcher. The Registration Approved template screenshot was a view of the “Registrant” context. The Not Approved Registration template screenshot was a view of the “Primary Registrant” context. What’s set in the To: field of each context is where the email will be delivered.

You can switch to the admin context by using the context switcher, and check the To: fields of each template’s admin context to make sure the admin emails are being sent to the appropriate email address.

If you will read the content above, Tony did not receive the email for the registrant. He would be the primary as well, right?

Please advise. Thanks,

Laura

Hi Laura,

Not necessarily because the one screenshot that you posted for the Not Approved message type sets the email for the Primary attendee to go to the Sponsor Email Address.

TOCIFT

April 20, 2018 at 5:00 pm

That is correct because the sponsor is the primary. They are the ones that will be making the ticket orders.

TOCIFT

April 20, 2018 at 5:02 pm

Although, in the case of a volunteer it may be themselves and not the Sponsor who is registering. How can this work? I’m so lost with this!

No, and I missed this in the screen shot.

This is a screenshot showing the registration form my registration – http://take.ms/ckFX4

There is no ‘Sponsor Email Address’ on that form, so any message set to go to that value, will not send for that registration.

We need the emails to actually send before we start looking into changing things around.

Can you go to Event Espresso -> Messages -> Settings.

Set the option ‘Generate and send all messages’ to ‘On the same request’.

That won’t fix any message in the queue already, but should trigger any new messages to send straight away, let me know when that has been changed and I’ll test again.

TOCIFT

I’ve made the setting change and I also added a sponsor information question group that includes the Sponsor Email question. I did try another registration but did not receive the email.

Thanks,

Laura

I’ve just retriggered the Reg Approved messages from my first registration and received those, then ran another registration as a volunteer and received the Not Approved email for that – http://take.ms/3sahO

(Bottom 2 emails are from me resending the orignal emails, top email is the latest email)

Did you not receive an email for my latest registration?

TOCIFT

I did receive it. Does this mean this is resolved and it was just the setting that needed to be changed?

Thanks,

Laura

I do still have the other issue that this thread started with of the venue not showing up on the emails.

It means something is happening with wp-cron on your site, the above setting works around it.

I do still have the other issue that this thread started with of the venue not showing up on the emails.

I just went over the emails from your site and I am getting venue info – http://take.ms/rMEr3

Static maps are working, likely an API key issue, but can you run a new registration and see if the emails and venue details show for you now?

Everything seems to be working. Thank you so much! Is there anything else I need to do about the wp-cron on the site. I don’t want any issues if WordPress updates. Will this setting stay the same?

Thanks,
Laura

You’re most welcome.

According to the wp-cron checker, wp-cron is working on your site so no.

The cron job used by the messaging system is failing but there could be many reasons for that, you could try clearing out all messages from the message queue, switching back to ‘on a separate request’ in the above setting and retesting another registration to see if it works through the queue.

To do that refresh your home page 5 mins after making the registration and view the message queue, see if they have changed at all, then again after 5 mins again and see if the messages send.

However, the setting you are using now is valid, it just tells EE to send the messages during the registration which means your visitor needs to wait a little longer between the payment and seeing the thank you page. The setting will remain even after a WP or EE update (that’s why we have it as a setting) so using it won’t cause any issues.
