Short version: is it possible to pre-register and after approval ask all the information about a registered person.

Hi there,
Not currently, no.
I think you are already using the ‘Not Approved’ status for registrations and that sits been the registration step and the payment options step, that’s the only option built into Event Espresso at this time.
You can’t set specific questions to be asked using the above process as the registration step is the same, it’s based on the selected questions within the event.
One option I can think of is to use a ‘pre-approval’ event, where the users register onto that event, it is set to only ask those limited questions. Then when you ‘Approve’ the registrations you use the Attendee mover to ‘move’ the registrations onto the correct event which asks the full questions. However, something to note is that EE would not require they answered the registration questions before payment in that setup.
