Hello. I hope you can help me. I have been using joomla! for many years, but now i have started from scratch with WordPress. I sell classes online. And my structure looks something like this: I have 10 courses (categories) Ex, we got math (category) in all states and a lot of cities. I need : to be able to show a customer in ONE state, ALL the math classes in ALL the cities in that state. Im thinking ; A coursepage with a description of the math course, under the description there is 6 boxes with state A,state B, state C and so on. Clicking on one, show all availeble classes in that state. To make a long story short. Is this possible with Event Espresso? Hoping for help.. Thanks. Regards, Knut Pedersen |
Hi Knut, I think this is possible. You may need to use the Custom Template Add-on for this. You can create different categories for each state and subject, then use shortcodes to display them on different pages as you wish. Thanks a lot for your answer ๐ I looked at the links, but i am not sure it made it easier. I still do not know how to do it. But looking at it, i got another idea. Maybe thats what you mean.. In stead of having : State Or New york I can have Math-newyork (category) This should be easier? IT will be a LOT of categories i guess.. but thats ok? Is this a possible and good way? Thanks again. Hi, That is a possible way yes. Another way would be to add 2 categories to the event, the location and the lesson type. Then you could use the EVENT_LIST shortcode to display all events from the Location category on a single page. Another alternative is the vector Maps template for the Custom Templates add on. You would need to set a venue for each event via the Venue Manager, and what would happen is each event in a state would show up when clicked. It might be easier to show you than explain it: http://demoee.org/custom-event-list-template-add-on/ scroll down to the vector maps section Documentation: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/custom-template-add-on/ |

Thanks ๐ And, Yeah.. vector maps is what would be best. Its just that i have classes in Norway, and there is no map for Norway. I have asked around, and they say i need to use JAVA for this, and its a huge job, AND it would not be responsive or mobilfriendly. But that would be the best solution! Guess its no easy way to make this vector map, and add it? |

Sorry, but i was thinking about what you wrote, using two categories. Would it be possible to use the EVENT_LIST shortcode to display all events from CATEGORY 1 “AND” CATEGORY 2? I mean both Categories must be active, to be shown. In that case, this would be really easy? One category with STATE Then it would be easy to show all classes with subject A in state A… Or, am i misunderstanding.. ? |

Hi, The Vector Maps uses SVG files which are compatible with most modern browsers (as the documentation mentions IE8 and below are not compatible), so making a map for Norway is while not as simple as add a map in and go, it isn’t a huge job either. By nature SVG’s are responsive and also mobile friendly (which is why they were chosen over other formats). I think I misunderstood your needs regarding categories, as the EVENT_LIST can only show one category at a time. So yeah I think the only real way with categories is to have location-subject categories, which will involve a lot of them. |
