We are interested in purchasing the Event Espresso plug-in. One requirement from our client is the ability to create chapters (i.e. west coast chapter, east coast chapter) and create events within each Chapter. I believe this is supported through Locales/Regions?
Here’s where it gets interesting.. Is it possible to assign WordPress users to each chapter. For example, the user John Doe will be associated with the west coast chapter (region), where he will only have the ability to create and manage events for that chapter only… John will not have permission to view/edit events for the east coast chapter, since he’s not assigned to that chapter or group?
I poked around and saw the Roles Permissions Pro plug-in. Would that work in this circumstance?
The Roles and Permissions Pro plugin (which is for Event Espresso 3-only) will allow for setting up regions as you describe. Then user accounts assigned as Event Managers that are assigned to a specific region will only have permission to edit events in their region. They’ll still be able to view those events.
Another solution you may want to look into is use Event Espresso 4, which has a built-in capability system. Then you can use a WordPress roles and capability plugin to set up a user account for each chapter where each account does not have any of the _others_ type capabilities. (e.g.. ee_read_others_events, ee_edit_others_events, ee_edit_others_registrations, and so on.)
